I’m kinda getting the vibe that you guys are here for the bone crunching Fantasy that OpenQuest and Crypts and Things, but what do you guys think about old School Sci-fi?

I voted space opera because one day I’d like to see a Star Wars-ish game done right and I love the old Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon pulp retro sci-fi – but honestly at the moment it’s all about the swords & sorcery for me!
Voted Space Opera. Current favourites are Ashen Stars and Stars Without Number.
– Neil.
Science Fantasy for me – Skyrealms of Jorune, Tales of Gargentihr, Urutsk, Planet Algol.
I usually prefer settings and systems that support each other rather than generic stuff.
I’d like to play a hard SF campaign, but none of my players have read enough SF to get it. Though I must say, Firefly has done a good job of persuading people to play Traveller who wouldn’t have otherwise given it a look! Ran a great Traveller campaign with a bunch of criminals who had to break out of prison before they could even begin their star-spanning careers. 🙂
For “old skool” it needs to be hard sci-fi a la Traveller. For Space Opera games you have to go down the narrative system route I feel – Heroquest 2 is just perfect for Star Wars!!!
